The Worldwide Action of the Lady of All
Nations
 |
“Go with
great ardor and zeal about this work of redemption and peace, and you
will behold the miracle” (April 1, 1951). From great and
small, the prayer and image of the Lady of all Nations shall be “made
known throughout the world, among all peoples. They all have a right to
it” (April 29, 1951).
More than 50 years ago already, the visionary Ida Peerdeman saw the effects
of the Action in a vision: “…
the prayer and the image [will] spread over the world and fall down into
the hearts of all nations” (April 1, 1951). “This
action is not destined for one country, but is destined for all nations”
(October 11, 1953).
Millions of prayer cards, translated into more than 80 languages, have
already been spread throughout the whole world and images of the Lady
of All Nations have been placed in many churches and chapels for veneration.
In addition, the faithful in many countries have assumed the responsibility
to become guardians
of pilgrim images of the Lady of All Nations bringing a framed copy
of image for a period of time to families and friends, prayer groups,
parishes and convents, to prisons, schools or nursing homes. The host
family or group welcomes any who want to come and pray before the pilgrim
image and together they pray, for example, the novena of the Lady of All
Nations or the Rosary along with the prayer of Amsterdam. Innumerable
people from around the world pray the prayer of the Lady of All Nations
daily and experience the power of her intercession.

My Cooperation with the World Action
 |
As the Apostles at the multiplication of the
loaves simply distributed the bread, so also shall we simply distribute
this image and prayer, and the Mother will touch their hearts. “You
will find that the spreading will happen as if by itself”
(April 15, 1951). “I assure you
that the world will change” (April 29, 1951).
Yes, we all need the concrete help of Our Lady, because most of the time
giving out the image and prayer to people requires us to overcome ourselves.
Each of us find it difficult, more or less, to approach a stranger, speak
with them and then offer them something religious besides.
Perhaps a few important and simple “guidelines” might be helpful.
When I want to speak with someone, for example, I can pray the prayer
of the Lady of all Nations silently before giving them the image so that
the Holy Spirit guides my words and then give them the image. I can also
ask my guardian angel to make a connection with the other person’s
angel. When possible, we should choose the right moment wisely, for example,
when there are not so many “spectators” at the cash register
in the grocery store or getting on the bus when the driver is pressed
for time and many are waiting in line. The person being addressed often
reacts self-consciously, ashamed in the full “public” view,
and will then often refuse. However, the most decisive factor is always
the courteous and kind style with which I conduct myself towards the person
to whom I want to offer the image and prayer. It does not require any
great discourse in the beginning. For example, it would be short and simple
for you to say, “May I give you a little gift? This is a nice picture
of Mary with a prayer for the Holy Spirit. It is a prayer for peace in
the world.” If the person hesitates, we should not impose in any
way! In some situations it may still be possible to say, “But everybody
needs Mary’s protection.” or, “we all wish for peace
though.” Often, however, a nice discussion develops about the Christian
faith. To leave the image and prayer out in public places such as churches,
hospitals, or schools, you always have to ask the priest or the responsible
person there first. The words of Our Lady certainly apply to everybody
who tries, “You are afraid? But
I am helping you!” (April 15, 1951). “Mary
is taking full responsibility for this” (April 4, 1954).

Days of Prayer honoring the Lady of All Nations
 |
In the message from May 31, 1995, the Lady of
All Nations said, “Understand
these words well when I say: see to it that every year the nations are
assembled around this throne, before this image. This is the great favor
that Mary, Miriam, or the Lady of All Nations, may grant to the world.”
So in 1997, one year after the official recognition of the title,
the First International Day of Prayer in honor of the Lady of All Nations
took place. Some 5,000 pilgrims participated from many different countries.
In the years following this event, international Days of Prayer were held
in Amsterdam as well as national Days of Prayer and local prayer meetings
where people gathered around an image of the Lady of All Nations.
Days
of Prayer throughout the world
It was clear that the Lady of All Nations, through the Days of Prayer,
also wanted to lead the people in a loving way to her Son, to the Blessed
Sacrament. For example, many people decided to go to Confession after
they had not been for many years or those searching found their way to
the Catholic faith, young men and women were able to decide for the consecrated
life, and also many found consolation and their prayer intentions were
heard.
In our time, where we suffer from terror, aggression, and lack of peace,
the Days of Prayer honoring the Lady of All Nations ( open
the archive)have become a sign of hope for many. People from different
cultures and nations pray together as one family before the image of the
Lady of All Nations in the joyful knowledge that she will bring us from
a time of degeneration, disaster and war into a time of grace, redemption,
and peace.
